CORNWALL BASED COURSES News Release Friday 24th October 2008 Cornwall Today. International cameraman teaches wildlife and media students filming and editing techniques.
Based in Cornwall and working globally, with over 30 years experience in Wildlife, Underwater, Aerial and Sound Sync Lighting Camera work, Jeff’s credits include working for the BBC, Channel 4, National Geographic, Discovery USA and Discovery Europe amongst many others. The Wildlife Education and Media Foundation Degree students spent a week with Jeff learning how to film and edit video footage they had taken at Newquay Zoo. Jeff describes in detail techniques he has shared with the students. “I have been teaching the students about camera techniques, techniques of film making including planning, researching and story boarding. We have also spent time down at the zoo filming various animals using different lighting techniques and dealing with the animal behaviour! We then spent time in the editing suite putting the films together and at the end of the week long session we showed all the students’ work in the lecture theatre. It was a fantastic week and the students were great to work with.”
Elaine Drury said: “Jeff has taught us how to get the best out of the camera equipment. He has also given us great critiques of our work and we have been really lucky to have him. The knowledge Jeff has been able to teach us have been fantastic and will definitely help us when working on assignments throughout the rest of the year.” John Latham, Principal of Cornwall College said: “Working with internationally renowned cameramen such as Jeff will definitely help improve the students’ knowledge of equipment and filming. This knowledge will be vital when they apply for jobs on completion of their course.”
