Maratua is a large island with a massive lagoon, only partly rimmed by the island; the rest is fringed by reef and wall. A channel into the lagoon offers an incredible drift dive and the surrounding walls are loaded with hard and soft corals where you are likely to see large shoals of tuna and mackerel along with hammerhead sharks, turtles and manta rays. Maratua and the surrounding islands offer excellent wall dives and spectacular drop-offs. While other dive sites have a gentle or steep reefs. There is a great variety in underwater geography, so no two dives will be the same.
